We travel not to escape life, but for life to not escape us

“We travel not to escape life, but for life to not escape us.” ~ Author Unknown. After Forty-seven total trips around the sun, twenty-three of those side-by-side with my soulmate, the most recent years with our four incredible children ages 11 to 18; I look back at the many road trips, hikes, ride queues, excursions, and rental stays with a sense of gratitude for the moments we seized and the memories we made. We sacrificed the materialistic for a collection of moments. For ourselves and any family following a similar path, your adventures are investments. It’s important your choices ensure a high rate of return.

When planning a vacation there are so many things to consider. It is easy to become overwhelmed. It’s important to keep the proper perspective and expectations not only, in the planning phase, but also through the entire trip. Vacations mirror the rest of your life. There will be ups and downs associated with every adventure. Whether your vacation itinerary has you working your way up a mountain face or spending long days darting through theme parks, relaxing can be arduous! But, take heart. A magical thing happens as a memory of a great vacation grows. The moments of fatigue and discomfort associated with the miles walked and time spent standing in long lines fade away, while the memory of the time you spent together in these special places blossom into something priceless.

With so many variables associated with travel, no amount of due diligence will ever ensure the perfect trip. The pain of poor planning or a bad booking can doom what you hoped would be a cherished remembrance into the stuff of nightmare. The one area our family all agrees is the most important part of a vacation is picking the right home for your stay. Your accommodations can make or break your trip. Your choice in vacation home is more than just the place you start and end your day. Choose the right one, and it may be a budget friendly excursion. Spending a relaxing day by your own pool or quality time in a game room, or a movie night in a cozy living room at your home away from home can be just the thing to balance long days of adventure.  Through countless stays over the years, I’ve come to realize so many of our families best vacation moments are set in the comfort and amenities of the homes in which we stay. Picking the right vacation home is our top priority on every trip we take.

When booking, I want to partner with owners and agents who understand the experience is everything. I take comfort in partnering with a family business that shares my values as it relates to travel. Brent and Michelle of the Chillax Inn are so talented and so thoughtful. Their homes are a truly delightful extension of them. Their mission is to do all they can to ensure families like yours and mine have the best possible stay, and their dedication can be seen in every detail. Forward thinking, attentive and caring you are in the best hands when you are in the comfort of one of their homes. Brent and Michelle know you have options for where you book your stays. They hope you will see their properties as a labor of love and choose one of their homes, making an investment in your priceless memories through them. But, no matter where you decide to book, be present in the moment and enjoy every aspect of your adventure. Oh, and don’t forget to take lots of pictures.
